Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo

wgproject_zooss01_180This was the first ever videogame outing for Aardman Animation's Oscar-winning duo Wallace & Gromit, and was launched on 30th September 2003 on PlayStation2, Xbox, GameCube and PC platforms, published by BAM Entertainment, and was nominated for a BAFTA in the category 'Best Childrens Game'.

We were honoured to be able to work closely with Nick Park, one of our heroes, and very pleased that our technology was accepted by Aardman to meet the demands of representing the dynamic duo digitally. This was also Frontier’s first opportunity to provide a transition for well-established characters into a game.

Features

wgproject_zooss02_180That diobolical penguin, Feathers McGraw, has inevitably become the Mr Big in his zoo 'prison', and has incarcerated all the junior residents in order to persuade their parents to do his bidding by manufacturing gems using the incredible Diamond-o-Matic.....Wallace and Gromit infiltrate the zoo by means of a giant Trojan Penguin (one of Wallace's more successful ideas..) Once inside you need to help our dynamic duo dash to the rescue of each of the offspring....a challenge only the truly inventive can meet!

  • Play as the ever-resourceful and adventurous Gromit, with Wallace never far behind to offer his well-meaning (if sometimes dubious) hints...
  • Bursting with inventions that are designed to challenge the mind and aid your journey, as well as filling every level with fast paced fun - get your hands on the 'Porridge Gun', 'Turnip Launcher', 'Springy Boots', 'Melt-o-matic', 'Techno Trousers' and more...
  • Bamboozle your way past Feathers' army of zoo keeper henchmen and mischevious monkeys..!
  • Race through five enormous, action-packed levels (with 24 sub levels and mini-arcade games) covering eight different 'animal houses' in the Zoo...
  • Master tons of special moves from Gromit, including head-spins, back-flips and many more...
  • New Characters designed by Nick Park...

A cracking collaboration

wgproject_zooss03_180The game takes full advantage of the PS2, Xbox and GameCube console capabilities, with features such as high polygon count models to give smooth-looking characters, techniques like multi-texturing, environment-mapping, dynamic and specular lighting, shadowing and depth of field to deliver great graphical quality, plus cutting-edge in-game animation that's faithful to the Oscar-winning films.

Frontier has co-operated closely with Aardman on artwork, scripting and other aspects of the production in order to emphasise the charisma of both the well known and new characters, complemented (of course) by the Wallace and Gromit humour we've come to know and love.

Video games are an exciting new medium for Aardman and we’re delighted that BAM! and ourselves are working with a studio of Frontier’s standing on introducing Wallace and Gromit to a brand new audience.

The Observer (UK newspaper)

This game is really good fun to play and is bound to be hugely popular. We loved it so much, we couldn't leave it alone, so be prepared to not leave your house until you've finished the whole game!

Where oh where do I start. I'm Impressed, but that just isn't the word to describe my love for this game.
